Origin - Antithesis
Origin has been making quite a name the past few years. After three full length albums full of crushingly fast death metal the band returns with their fourth full length album, the much anticipated Anthithesis.

Every once in a while an album surfaces that just sets new boundaries for its respective genre, and Anthithesis is one of those albums. From the first notes of "The Aftermath" you will be dragged in a tsunami of faster-than-fast riffs, blastbeats and almost progressive transitions. The Turner/Ryan guitar tandem makes sure that every nook and cranny of this disc is full with riffs you can barely follow, with the occasional dual leads spicing things up in the melodic department.

Mike Flores occasionaly pops up with a solo bass-break and you can almost hear the sweat coming of the guitarneck. Big applause for drummer John Longstreth who sounds like an inhuman machine with every release he plays on. The disc only slows down a bit with the closing 9 minute self titled track, which actually has some midtempo sections and a little hint of black metal riffing. Nice! The songs are tightly written and it wouldnt suprise me that with a little editing a giant 40 minute death metal epic could be made of the tracks.

If you prefer your metal in a hyperdrive-uber-fast sauce, this is the album to get in 2008. Antithesis is Origin's best and most listenable work (thanks to the excellent production) to date. And yeah, your brain will probably melt halfway through but hey, that's what this music is made for. All hail the melting brain!
